its probbaly better to run a bit thicker oil because of the larger clearance with an older engine....but 5w-30 will work fine, considering its what honda recommends for cb7's.....

10w30 for an older engine, 5w30 if it gets really cold in the winter where you live

5w-30 is what's reccomended.. if you've got an old engine, use 10w-30..

if it's really cold outside and your using 10w-30, use 5w-30 untill it warms up..

If you care about mileage stick with the stock 5-30... non synth... probably a high mileage formulation would work the best...

But you could always mix in some 5w40 if you are having blowby or small leakage problems... but it will affect your mileage slightly...

On a side note: I have been getting way better gas mileage since I switched from regular dino oil to Castrol Synthetic blend 5w30...
