I contacted Autopower for a roll bar but i didnt really like the delivery options and i was wondering if someone knows of a place to get a roll bar made in NJ or PA. I need it made and installed by March 20th tops.

bolt-in roll cages ftmfl. dont get one dude, especially in a road car. you will make it more dangerous to drive rather than safer.

i need the cage for the 4point harness'. It's unsafe for dd in the summer to have a harness bar only. Harness bars only connect to the B-pillar thus making it not suitible for DD. A roll bar/harness bar makes it much safer and can with stand DD accidents.

I'm buying a roll bar with a harness bar for a 09-03 teg and me and the mad hatter are gonna mod it.

Auto power is crazy expensive..fucking over 600 and no promise delivery date.

why does everyone hate bolt in roll bars/cages. I've done some minimal research and I can't seem to fine a reason for everyone to hate them.

i just went the weld in way cause it just makes the cage a piece of the frame of the car. it just seems so much more safe to me. theres no nuts and bolts to worry about breaking/coming loose/flexing. idk thats just me

I'm sure they'll love that when they slam their heads on the cage during an accident

this is the reason you should never use a bolt-in cage:

a bolt-in bar isnt going to do NEARLY as well as a properly fabricated one as very succinctly demonstrated by this mustang:

I was running on track in the advanced group with this Mustang when he lost the rear at top of hill before Turn 9, aka The Bitch. Went into tire wall nose first, flipped up into the air doing a 180 landing on the roof on the other side of the tire wall.

Driver said he lost the rear when he got a "surge"...... My observation is he was just going too fast and lost it. He and a passenger walked away.

Car had a cosmetic bolt-to-the-floor roll bar. The bar and its sandwich plate mounts pushed through the floor doing nothing to keep the roof from collapsing. The bar and bottom mounting plates were actually sticking through the bottom of the floor about 10" due to the impact.

Can't believe the driver wasn't seriously injured as the roof was into his seat. He's lucky he's a small, flexible guy.

It was a beautiful car. They were going to put in a full cage this winter...

autopower cages are ONLY cosmetic cages, do not ever trust them to actually do any good in a rollover. and if you are doing just for looks, that is pretty much the exact definition of rice.

Somehow i knew someone would post a picture of this mustang. this has nothing to do with it being bolt in/vs weld in. There is no evidence that the bolts that held it in failed.

The problem is that the contact patches were way to small, and the sheet metal they attached it to was not nearly strong enough. The cage actually popped right through the steel. if you look closely, you can see it popping through the floor here:

This probably would have happened whether it was bolted in or welded in. It was a poorly designed cage.

I'm not advocating the use of bolt in roll cages. If you have a serious track car, you really should have it welded, it's the smart thing to do.

The point is that bolt in cages/roll bars are not as bad as people make them sound. Bolts can break, welds can break, everything can break. It comes down to the quality of the peice.

I'd much rather have a top quality bolt in bar/cage than a mediocre quality weld in cage like the one above.
