    Short shifter question

So I've been looking into getting a short shifter, however, I havent had much luck finding any decent ones for the CB.

Can anyone send me a couple links or something to help me out?

Also does anyone know if any different model short shifters will work with the CB? such as a prelude or 5th gen accord?

You see models at every car show.
But have you ever seen a model that actually takes the car she built to a show?

I hear all you have to do is cut one of the cable mounting points and weld it into a lower location thus a shorter shift but I heard this from a 16 year old kid so idk. Seems like a sensible plan to me......

You can swap the Prelude shifter into your cb and it'll be shorter and everything will be oem parts. I think Nuespeed and OBX make adapter plates that you can bolt on to your stock shifter but you're going to have to pay 50-70 dollars. You can get a grounding clamp from lowes and a grade 8 lock nut and bolt from Lowes and make your own for around 5-7 dollars. There's some other shifters out there made by Forbidden, Yameans, and a couple of others but I think most of them have stopped making them and they're pretty hard to find.

I got the prelude shifter with a B&M short shifter for the prelude shifter, and the metal shifter bushings and that made an incredible difference.

I personally like the Neuspeed short throw shifter. I also took my shift knob and cut the shaft down and welded it so the black Honda OEM shift knob is right above the neuspeed mount. Makes a word of difference. it's very very notchie.

              1. you can upgrade to the Prelude Shifter from a BB4, 4th gen prelude. The throws are noticeably shorter than the Accord one. Its a direct bolt in affair.

              2. JTC Customs makes a short shifter, a REAL short shifter for the BB4 prelude. He's got 3 mounting tabs that can makes the throws 10, 40 and 75% shorter than stock. If you've heard of Forbidden short shifters, well he's sorta modeled it after that. Its a great shifter really the only one on the market right now. I think he wants 100 bucks for them

I really want the Neuspeed adapter, I just don't exactly know how it works.

You'll remove the cable from your shifter, bolt on the adapter, and then bolt the cable to the adapter. All it does is raise the mounting point for the shifter cable. When it's all said and done though it's going to be covered up by your shift boot. So if you spend less than 10 dollars at Lowes or spend 50-70 dollars online or wherever you get the Nuespeed, you'll be the only one who knows teh difference lol. It'll shift the same. That's you though. Just trying to save you some money. If I were you and was going to spend the money on the Nuespeed I would get the shifter in the link that Losiracer posted. It's not much more money and you'll have three different mounting points so you can adjust it to how you want it.

Oh, ok I get it now. Well I may just go with the Lowe's one. haha. cuz I like the Neuspeed but Im really not all about brands, just about functionality. If it works thats all that matters to me!

You're welcome. People have said that they had the bolt break on them before so you need to make sure it's a grade 8 bolt and the nut you use is a lock nut.

I did it and I think its pretty cool!Im into the DIY stuff and this would save alot of money. I did have to cut a notch out of the right side of the center console because the shifter would bind going into 3rd and 5th gears.

I already have a PSPEC short shift I installed about three years ago and I can't remember if it has the hole for the cable up higher than the stock shift. I'll have to open the console and check. But incase I do this and need to cut the console to make it shift smoothly, can people please post pics of what they've done to remedy this - cut consoles, having the threaded end of the bolt face the drivers side, other mods, sanding, etc. to make this fit well.

                            Thanks!

Here's a DIY sorta on how to install a Short Shifter. It'll prob. help me when I get that JTC one in the near future.
