What's up Cbtuner's I got a quick question I got these aftermarket header's (4-2-1) but they don't have the down pipe I got them off my boy anyways my question is can I use my stock downpipe? Cause I looked online for downpipes and they kinda pricey, thanks to those who help.

The F22a1 down pipe is a single pipe where the F22a4 and F22a6 are dual pipes which then become one pipe. So if your header's outlet is for one pipe your a1 down pipe should work. But I am guessing the header outlet is for a dual pipe like that which would be found on an a4 or a6.

          Did that make sense?

EDIT: This shows how most aftermarket header/down pipe combos are designed. The areas circled are single pipes on the F22a1.

Random picture pulled from ebay just shown for reference

There are different lengths for the primary tubes in these aftermarket setups as well. Does your aftermarket header have the same length primaries as a stock A4 is the question.

For example I have a set of Tucan 4-2-1 headers with a 14" head flange to downpipe flange height. Then I also have a Megan racing 4-2-1 with an 8" head flange to downpipe flange height. Another measurement that will need to be taken into consideration is how far do they come out from the head/block. My Tucan was 6.5" and the Megan was more like 3". Those two measurements are what will determine what downpipe will work for your upper. Oh and the diameter and center to center spacing of the 2 down pipes may come into effect as well.

Anyone post up the measurements of a stock A4 upper exhaust header.

The double pipe downpipe i assume is better for low down torque?

the single pipe downpipe i assume then to be better for top end, or just generally worst?

Reason i ask is i have a single downpipe on my 91, and the stock double downpipe and header that came off my 93 after i put an aftermarket one on i still have, would it be better to swap it onto my 91 as its not doing anything but sitting there, or not worth the bother?

IMO your 93 4-2-1 (double) is better than the 91 4-1 (single). I would swap it if you have it just sitting there already.
