automatic shifter stiff & hard to move..

What would be the cause of this? It's hard as hell to move the shifter from park to drive and vise versa. yes it goes in gear but it's hard as hell. it something seized up? or needs to be lubed? let me know pics would help too!

Shifter cable is going out. i'd get it replace ASAP before you have transmission problems.
