Happened to me one time. I was at the gas station so I bought a large HOT coffee. Poured it on my gas lid and used my fingers to pry it open at the same time. Worked well and I guarantee most gas stations always have coffee!

yes but if its frozen shut it will need alot of pressure to open it, and some keys are more worn than others

Yeah it was really cold this morning, and I think it's funny when u get cust in the shop complaining that there brand new honda gas lid would not open and they always end up breaking something.

But anyways I will try to use really hot water and prying it open it always work.

I'd recommend using some hot, but not boiling, water to get rid of any ice around the edges until you can get the fuel door open. (I recommend this method as opposed to de-icer because the residual heat from the water will heat the door and latch mechanism in case there is ice inside the door, where de-icer won't get to it. I don't recommend boiling water because of the dangers of scalding and also possible temperature difference damage to the finish on the car). Once it's open, spray the latch (and into the end of the cable to the latch if you can see it, never looked for mine) with WD-40. It's original purpose was a moisture repellant, and it does wonders for keeping things from getting frozen. Not much you can do to prevent the icing on the outside, but it will keep the latch itself from becoming encased in ice and should help the cable also.

As stated before, your key is a bad idea. They're just brass, and they break very easily.
