    Clutch problem (stuck in neutral?)

Im looking into getting a DD since my truck is for sale, and maybe gone by next week. Anyhow, I have this lady with a 93 DX, and says that the clutch is stuck in neutral, and cant be driven cuz of that only reason. Anybody have a guess on whats going on, and how to fix it? I plan on picking it up, and fixing the issue if I can.

could be numorous things, but none have anything to do with the clutch. unless she's saying that when the car is running you cant get into gear from nuetral, if thats the case then thats a clutch or slave cylinder issue. check out the car and with it off, see if you can move the shifter into the gears, If it moves freely and doesnt feel like any gears are working, its probley just a broken cable. If it doesnt go into any gears, then the odds are the tranny's toast.
Cant really give a direct answer with the info you posted. check the car out and get back to us.

yeah, sorry for the short description, it was all she gave me, plus its thru email, for some reason she didnt post a number. but yeah, i have a hunch its something with the cylinders. if not that, then a cable issue.

weird thing is ive never heard this issue before, reason I ask. but ill get back...

I actually just had a very similar issue, it ended up being the inner drivers side cv joint. It exploded and destroyed the bearings and ruined the axle splines, but with no sound coming from it. So check that out.

Ok here is what you do. We all know that if you are sitting in a manual tranny car and you put it in any gear while the car is off then more than likely it will engage. NOW if the car is running and wont go in gear then we have a clutch engagement issue. 4 things are wrong: no fluid, bad mc, bad sc, or bad clutch. You are going to have to go and look at this stuff to actually know.

well, hopefully its a minor issue out of the 4. I just want to be able to drive it back home and then work on it. Its a DX also, which will be great for a door swap on my EX.

ok, so I couldnt take a look at it cuz lady was at work while I was up there. BUT, she did tell me that it DOES go into gear while its off, so If I replace both Clutch MC/Slave Cylinder, bleed it, would that solve it?

That would solve the hell out of it......but go ahead and give it a new clutch while you are at it. Make sure that slave cylinder is working first before you jump to conclusions. Diagnosis is key and testing each part helps.

eh, see thing is car is 3hrs away from where i live. Im trying to fix it, and drive it back home. clutch could be later, as long as im home, i can do it. car starts up and everything. Ive been reading the Haynes manual as we speak, on the diagnosing part. All it has info is on slave and master, but doesnt really go into detail.
