ground wiring

ok, i was looking at hyper ground wires, and they say that they cause 5-10% increase in horsepower and all that good shit. does anyone know if these work? and would a good gauge amp power wire do the same as the hyper grounds? i cant afford the hyper grounds, and i wanted to see if the amp wires might work. im trying to get out of the 17's like you have no idea. im desperate. but i have no money and just lost my job, and im only 16. this sucks.

i wouldnt say that u would see that much in horse power improvement.

comparing it to a normal amp wire, some people do use it and its fine. but the wires in a amp wire are thin and the battery wires are thick copper carrying more voltage.

i seen others use a huge metal thing thats really thick to ground. iono maybe someone has more input on this

good old 4 Gauge power wire about 15 feet ($25) and 12 connector for 6 wire set($4), a metal or alum plate with 6 hole drill ($4) and 6 stainless steel bolt and nut ($2) total about $35

IF your engine is old and dirty, fresh new ground wire will gain back a few HP and even more for people with ignition upgrade and higher electrical load (amp, stereo, LCD...) Honda tunning magazine install hyperground on a new 2003 wrx and gain 2 HP/2TQ, but they say hyperground wire have shielding EMI foil and other material that normal power wire don't have. DOn't know if it true or not, but this cheap mod wil not hurt performance specially if you have amp and sub u will blown less fuses

mostly just smooths out power production and improves idle, deffinately won't hurt. Just make your own kit though. Use shielded wire when possible, and gold connectors or at least plated.

Cheap solution that I've done on all of my more performance minded cars. #4 Welders wire, it really (and all of the "Hyperground" type systems) won't make much of a difference in terms of horsepower, will help you idle better. I did my 3 major grounds on my Civic and noticed better fuel economy (and that is not a great concern, but even better MPG even though I am always on the throttle). These systems do work well in conjunction with an upgraded ignition.

that wire u use, where can i find it..i got a ittie bittie little wire comming from my valve cover to the chassie and its ugly...is that the wire thats copper inside and thick inside? or was that pre-made?

this is a nice DIY project, even if it may have little gains...its still worth it.

i did my friends ground...his was gone...now his car is idling better.

is that a ready made wire? or u assembled the terminal rings...

i can do that to my battery terminals too right...positive to ground?? JK haha.....

what parts of the engine bay are grounded in out cb7's, i can only think of one off the top of my head....i wanna go and do this now, and heres a dumb question i no the answer to but im dumb anyway do all the grounds connect to the ground on the battery...

i have 3 different locations. mine are going from the battery to the block, from the block to the chassis. battery to chassis, and finally block to motor mount to chassis. seemed to work out great for me. improved my idle and gave me a liitle bottom end power. i am still going to put one more in and it is going to go from the firewall to the intake manifold back to the firewall.

the way im going to do it, is just reground the grounds comming from the valve cover, the power steering, and the motor mount.

thats it for now. in the future i will re-ground the negitive terminal with a whole new terminal.

hehe im into little things...not no biggie stuff u kno...i bet u guys will go more out than me....but i dont really really need it

The beauty of mine is that I paid $16.50 total for the materials and then did the labor in about 45 minutes (I am very anal on good connections so some sandpaper was used on all connection points) all and all, the Cheapest DIY I've ever done.
