PS/Alt+AC belt popped off while driving

ok so while driving the other day I heard a clanking sound and smoke started pouring out of my engine bay. i pulled over and opened the hood, and my power steering belt had popped off of the crank, and my alternator belt had a long tear in it. the alternator belt was spinning in intervals(i.e. it would spin around 2 inches and stop, couple seconds later it would spin around and stop again, over and over). I had just completed doing my alternator belt replacement the day before. i bought the alt belt at checkers, and the PS belt is the one that's been on since I bought it. both my PS and alt belt were very tight, had maybe 1/2 inch play. anybody got an idea what the problem could be? im more worried about the smoke issue

could be your crank pulley that took a dump on you. Its injected w/ a rubberized material and if that material breaks down, then your crank pulley is no more. But also check to see if that pulley came loose from the crankshaft first.

sounds like you could have over tightened them and toasted the crank pully

if the rubber material broke down, does that mean it's my fault? and can i fix it?

no that just happens from age. Its there to dampen the vibrations, just like your motor mounts are there for the engine's external vibrations, this is to dampen the vibrations coming from the crankshaft. All you would do is get a new crank pulley and swap it on there. If you need a F22 crank pulley, I DO have a spare. so just LMK.

thanks but im someone with the very low basics of engines, pretty much cars in general. trying to learn though . I checked out my pulley area tonight, and there's a huge burnt cut on the side of my timing belt cover. there's also black rubber that's covering the crank pulley. i removed my new alternator belt from the crank pulley and it has all it's grooves on it so i really don't know what all that black rubber is on my crank pulley. it's looking so far that i wil have to replace my timing belt cover and get a new belt. but doing the timing belt cover is something im not sure how to do

timing belt cover is pretty easy, just a couple strategically placed 10mm bolts haha. I think its 3 pieces.
