    Got Another $300 CB

Well I got another Cheap CB yesterday for $300.

    She is a 92 EX 159k sedan

Reason for her selling it for cheap was because the car needed a alternator and since its been sitting in her yard since 2006.

I went to get the cb and thought I could just swap batt from my cb to that one and drive it home( 15 min drive)

Car didn't want to start right away but it did. The batt light never came on. I said to my self is the alternator really dead ? so I drove the car out and come to see I have to flats in the back. put some air and it was good to go.

still not batt light so I said maybe I got lucky

I get home park the car turn it off and it wont turn on without a jump.

so my question for you guys do you think it could just be the battery that's gone? I don't think the alternator is dead since the car was driving fine on a dead battery. ABS light comes on once in a while driving but the braks are bad so I guess that could be or that it does not have much volts going in to the system due to the batt I only drove it once so and it was dark. just need some in put on what you guys think.

What should I change for a car thats been sitting for more than 3 years?

I know it needs oil change ect....but you guys give me a list so i can look while doing this since I forget something lol

    change all the fluids
    change the brakes
swap in a new battery, if the battery light does not come on then the alternator should be fine
    Hold On Not Done Accelerating

all this except for the battery light thing.

if the battery light doesnt come on but yet you have to jump the car in order to start it, the battery light might be bad.

I'd check the plugs, wires, etc. and see what condition they are in. You may to look into draining the gas tank and putting fresh fuel in it.

yea the brakes need changing bad since it shakes like crazy when braking but stright is fine.
I wonder if the rotors might need changing

Battery light is good cause it comes on before start up The batt is not holding charge so im guessing it could just be the batt.

the lady said a few months before she stop driving it she changed the plugs and wires but this was back in 06 so it might need changing. as for the gas its on E since the light is on so I guess it should be good with some gas cleaner and some 93 Oct ??

good buy-- tires, hoses, thermostat, rad cap,air filter also can we change brushes in the alternator? and the way i check for charging is to use a volt meter and see if it goes up to about 14v-14.25 then it should be charging

Thanks, I made sure I got this fast. I told the lady I would pick it up the next day then she said she had to charge me an extra $50 (wanted $250 at first) since a guy that called was going to give her $300.

I've seen the same problem on a cb and it was the negative wire thats bolted to the tranny.

Check all grounds and positive wires and it should be ok... I wish...

That cb i'm talking of, needed to be started with a jump or it wouldn't even start!
