need some opinions and if assurance for fuel filter?

i just did my fuel filter w/ the fram one. 90 accord

for some reason the IN does not screw all the way back in as it was on the OEM. i tried to take it out and then in again ( a couple times) to avoid cross threading or whatever and it would go really really smooth (hand turned) till about 1/4 left then i start using tool slowly then it gets hard like i can't turn it in anymore.
the out part of the fuel filter is really smooth, it goes in..
    perhaps washers??

i started the car and it struggled in the beginning but then it would sound normal, i let it go and played w/ throttle to see if gas would come out, nothing i could see. is this okay?

oh ya i d k how or why, but i think the bracket strap i can't get it back on.. oh well..

thanks very much for any input and yes i am a poor noob trying to learn and do my own.

If it isn't leaking, it is probably fine. It is under quite a bit pressure, so the leak won't be subtle. The strap not going back on may be a bit of an issue because you don't want a loose fuel filter just hanging around, but you probably just need to sit there and dick with it. They are a HUGE pain in the ass for what they are. I have done it many times before, and I still fight with it. Also, I would recommend OEM Honda filters, because you know there won't be any fitment issues, they are usually about the same price (I have seen some filters cheaper through Honda) and they are almost always better quality.

the makr up here is RIDICULE 26 plus for one so i decided its okay... its nolike its an rsx or prelude osr something.. but thanks for the tip.

the filter isn't loose it is secured still onto the bracket. jsut somehow i cant' completely close it w/ the bolt that straps the whole filter.

ya my hand is messed up w/ red/pink gash and what not..oh well live and learn and i guess i enjoyed doing it..

The bolt that straps the whole filter is the one I was talking about fighting with. I would not leave that undone, as the whole filter is liable to come free.

darn but it is impossible to really push it in..its cuz i think i bent it while trying to take the in-line out of the old fuel fiilter..

maybe if and when i have time i will take everything out (intake and the box) and then have more space.

i am still unsure why the fuel filter wont screw all the way in.. i dind't use the 3 washers provided by fram.

          thanks.

you are supposed to use the washers... they are gaskets. You put one on the fuel filter, then one on each side of hose where it attaches to the fuel rail. But if you didnt take the hose off the fuel rail, that one should be fine. I would prolly use the one on the filter though.

for the record... fuel filters on our cars are way too freakin stupid.

wiat sorry. i am a bit confused..

isn't the stock OEM fuel filter supposed to have its set of wahsers?

and if not then where should i put the 3 washers. 2 washers are identical in size and 1 being smaller. it seems logical that the 2 identical sized washer would go on the IN and OUT of the fuel fitler. but how bout the smaller one?

The two bigger washers go on the filter side of the hose that runs to the fuel rail. Put one on each side of the hose and then tighten it to the filter. That way the line won't leak at the filter. Don't over tighten it, the bolt doesn't need to be super super tight.

The small washer goes on the bolt on the fuel rail that you had to loosen in order to release the pressure in the fuel system. If that is not how you relieved the fuel pressure, then you don't need to worry about the little one.

The fuel feed line is the one that is steel and actually screws into the filter. I know that this is the one that you said didn't thread all the way in, but that is ok, as long as it doesn't leak and you tightened it securely.

Then the fuel travels to the engine through the hose that has a banjo bolt that goes through the center of the hose and screws into the filter. That is the hose that gets the two washers.

Sorry, if I sound like I am talking down to you, I'm not, I am just trying to describe the picture that I am looking at, so you can visualize it , so that you don't have to worry about it.

                Damn, I wish I had a scanner...

                  thank you very much...

i feel a lot better, i drove it out again in city traffic and my sis drove it and seems okay.. however tomorrow i will look at it again.. but i think it is alright no visible leaks at the FUEL FEED LINE (darn i learned a vocab instead of using ins/out) I didn't relieve pressure except turning and releasing the gas cap. then i cranked banjo first and it was okay after 1 pop + wd40. also the fuel feed line steel took a crack but then its okay. i am not sure how to make the fuel feed line secure, it doesn't seem to have an exact point of snug, so im not so sure... i did it many times and again it won't go all the way in like OEM.. but ya.. no leaks.

The banjo did have 2 when it was removed and i guess i dont need to replace w/ the fram ones.

                  thanks..
