    Tansmission rebuild cost

Just as the title states, how many of you peoples have had your manual transmissions rebuild, I need to just replace the syncros. so prices and places please.

Pertaining to 90-93 Accord automatic tranny rebuilds based on 2 family sources, they have ranged $1300-1500. That's all the info I have. Manual should be easier for tranny shops.

the shop i asked said $250 each syncro. Thats without removing the trans from the car itself.

just get a good manual and do it yourself, its only a 1 day job and its pretty easy to do.

If you get on ebay you can find carbon synchros for the H tranny which should be the same exact thing. I think there whole set for 1-5 is 250-300 bucks. I will try and find the seller.

There name is synchrotech.gearspeed on ebay
and here is an auction for h22 synchros Here

carbon synchros are great but not worth the cost if you are always thrashing gears and eventually going to have to replaced them again.

No its slighty harder to thrash em up depending on your driving style ,how much power is being thrown at it etc. Only time will tell on that.

From what I read, the Carbon is just a coating which would just wear off pretty quickly....
Doesnt sound like something to throw $400 on

Well i dont see them wearing out any faster than OEM ones. Besides they are cheaper than oem replacement and i am sure they would last longer and handle more power better.

you would be suprised how much better the composite/carbon syncros work. as for wear it depends how good the particular one is you purchase.

brass syncros work great though. i can buy a bearing kit with honda brass syncros for around 300 at the local tranmsission wholesale warehouse.
i wouldnt' mess with the expensive syncros if it was mine, just personal opinion though

when i rebuilt my tranny i used ones from honda.they ran me about 600.they are really easy to install....there was a civic form just like this that had a diy sec that showed u how to change the gears and misc parts in the tranny thats how i learned how to do it.although i cant remeber the site.if any one else knows it they will post it.

it was on honda-tech I have seen it. I have access to a press and a machine shop (my work) so I'm thinking about getting the ones from syncrotech because I have good reviews about them. I need to clean my spare tranny I have laying around (gotta love picknpull's low prices) and I'll rebuild that after I finish my turbo rebuild. thanks for the help guys.
