jumpy speedo sometimes? Possible speed sensor?

I've noticed recently that my speedometer "jumps" or kinda flicks when I'm accelerating hard. I've got a JDM H22 M2A4 5 spd trans. Is it just the speed sensor going bad on me?

The thing is, I'm using one from a used H23 in my H22 trans. I don't have the PS lines hooked to it though. But when I first put it in there a couple months ago, it never showed any signs of this yet I don't have any CEL codes popping up.

So is it just the top part that I need to replace?

Yea, its the very top piece that needs replacing it sounds like.
I'd run the P/S lines into the speed sensor though
Your local dealer has them, and they arent expensive.
Plus the steering wheel will have variable input sensativity.

If that doesnt solve it, it might be loose connections or screws for the speedo.

ok, the thing is....I still have the VSS from my MPOA Automatic trans since I did a 5spd swap. But that one looks different than the one thats on the car currently.
The auto one seems to just have a plug/connector on it but the one in my car has a connector w/ a wire coming out of the top part. Still think it'll work the same?

        Ah yes I remember those...
You can try it, but I cant remember.

Yea the older automatic has a wire and a plug comeing out but the new manual has the plug molded into the VSS.

I think the tops are the same, you may have to transplant.

I have an H23 VSS in my T2T4 and no problems yet lol
