    Adjusting idle screw

i know how to do it, but mine is loose. right now i have it closed as much as possible, and sometimes my car idles too low... around 5-600, almost to the point of stalling. but if i adjust the screw to idle higher, its fine for a while, but with driving the screw loosens itself.

between yesterday morning and night, my idle went from a smooth 750-800 up to 1500. the screw had turned itself 2 complete rotations. how can i make that screw tighter turning so it doesnt open itself more?

Get a new one...same thing was happening to me i even tried sealing it with rtw. Nothing worked better than a new honda idle screw with the rubber gasket. Replaced it months ago and haven't had to touch the idle since $5 or less i believe it was

does the throttlebody have to come off? or if i keep turning it counterclock, does it eventually come off? ive never tried before. and im assuming there is a gasket behind the screw as well...

nope that bitch comes right out lol...just keep turning it loose. Mine was like hanging on by a thread by the time i got to the dealership and i'd tightened it all the way down not even 5 minutes beforehand...mine was bad...real bad lol

            thanks for the info.

man this sucks, honda must have a 100 recalls we done even know about. everyone seems to have an idle problem, and its always caused by something different. first i had a loose fiv, now this damn idle screw.

btw, does the gasket come with? and what is the technical name i ask for when i want the screw and gasket? cause some of those guys behind the desk are idiots, they just hit keys all day and have no idea what theyre getting.

a little but once i wanted a part, and refered to it as a part for a h22. so they ask me if its for the prelude vtec, 2.2ltr... im thinkin, no shit, but i guess its not always common knowledge.

the idle screw is supposeds to adjust while the motor is warm. just tighten it all the way, then go once around the opposite direction and see where its at. i think idle is supposed to be at 750, but i dont personally like mine that low. it seems a little too lobey at times and i dont like the motor teasing me about feeling like its gonna stall.

ain't that the damn truth. It'll come with a gasket, u don't even need to use any sealants just screw it right in. I just called it the idle screw i believe but u may have to have them print out the tb diagram and point the part out

but where do u set the throtle cable. i mean if u move it u gona mess the idle too. so its not only the idle screw u have to worry about.
