shitty gas mileage?

This is weird...

My owners manual says 16 gallons, and I've litterally run out of fuel and coasted into a gas station before... it topped off at 14.7! My average fill up is only 14.4, and I only fill up when the gas light has been on for a few miles (it's burnt out now). I only get about 22mpg, and I drive fairly heavy footed and run the a/c all the time because I live in AZ and its HOT. Recently its dropped to about 19-20, but i know the o2 sensor needs to be changed (I have the replacement sitting in my garage) and need a new fuel filter...

I have a 90 accord ex 4 dr. I don't know why there is such a discrepancy between gas mileages and capacities... this is weird.

I just filled up the other day after riding with the gas light on for a while, and it stopped on 14 even. So I definitely have a 14.? gallon tank. It doesnt matter what the manual says, it's what is actually in/on the car.

actualy it does matter what the manual says, when i fill up after dead empty it takes 16.8 gallons so i do have a 17 gallon tank.

Good info, but it doesn't specify capacities... How do I check the part number of my gas tank?? Other than running her dry and going for a fillup (which I've done several times and its always about 14.7 gallons) is there any way to check which model I have?

I can pull 400-410 miles out of my tank if i'm stricktly highway. (SE auto) I was getting 340-370, now all of a sudden, I get about 310??? Wierd. I have been using the A/C a little, but that seems drastic. My 93 EX man. used to pull 350-370 normally and 420 highway. And yeah, what is up with our tanks? I have never been able to fill mine more than 15 and that was when i ran out of gas.

I have however noticed a 15-20 mi./per tank difference with properly inflated tires. I keep mine at 90-91 specs for a softer ride. (29lbs)

My reserve light stopped working in my 93 EX which is annoying. For the record, there is no "reserve tank." The fuel level sending unit has a sensor on it, (seperate from the fuel level guage function), that sends a signal to illuminate the dash light if the fuel level falls below a certain amount. You allegedly have 1.2?? gallons of gas remaining if the light illuminates steadily. If your light stopped working, you must replace the entire sending unit. There is a seperate fuel filter on the pickup inside the tank. Anyone ever change it?

I've been getting about 325 miles to a tank. Car is 91 LX with 350,XXX miles, everything stock except K&N filter panel, custom catch can, and additional inline fuel filter after tank. I drive decent enough, I race on Wednesday nights at the track, and drive about 100 miles on the weekends. So I guess I can't complain about gas over here, other than California's freaking $2.59 a gallon for 91 octane
