Your car isn't going to be super loud with the stock catback. It's going to be a little louder, but not much. The stock cat really isn't very restrictive, so you'd be better off putting the money towards something else, unless you need to replace the cat.

how much is the catback if its more than $75 go custom I prefer the stock exhaust look with a wider piping. But with a stock lookin muffler.

I asked about this yesterday or the day before and was told to stick with the oem cat. You'd only see 1-2 hp not having it and it really isn't worth it. I've had a car with nothing but the header and the cat for an exhaust with it ending right by the back wheels and it was loud as hell. It was fine driving it around and everything but if I ever stomped it EVERYBODY around me heard it.

I've been on the straight pipe band wagon until this morning. It wasnt fun for the last 3 months. People will hate you if you have a straight pipe with no cat. It is so damn loud and obnoxious that it just drives you and everybody else nuts around you. Im sure you can find a vid of my dyno pull with the straight pipe and you will hear what I speak of.

Honestly I would keep the cat for 3 reasons. Like mentioned it doesnt restrict flow very much. 2 would be you will lose alot of your top end unless you get tuned or get a cam like I did. 3 the bolts to it are probably rusted out anyways and you will cuss at it until that last bolt you can hardly reach rounds off. Trust me this all happened to me. Never again sir.

Right now I have 2 1/4" pipe with a thrush turbo muffler. It has a very quiet yet low rumble to it. I have the raspiness because I have a cat delete rezzy but its hardly noticeable.

maybe a series of test pipes after the cat to the stock muffler?

Test pipes are supposed to replace the cat.

If he's really wanting to put a series of test pipes from the cat to the muffler... well, that's just stupid.
