    Ignition failing

So today in sittin in traffic, and all of the sudden my car shuts off...

So i effed around with it, and then finally i got it running!! i have to know hold the key in the on position, ir else it snaps back and kills the car.

Now what, do i have a lock smith do it? can i get this thing out with out taking the steering colom off? or do i get a new ignition from the j/y??

There is a switch behind the actual key part of the ignition that screws on the back of it. Its probably black or brown and has a few large wires coming from it that plugs into the fuse block. You might have to take off the bottom half of the steering column cover and you will see what I am talking about. Very simple to do.

OK, so autozone has got a ignition for my car.I need if the key ignition holds it in the "on"position, or if the electrical part of it does?

i dont want to putn a new ignition in and have it still shut off on me. I just cant seem to find out if the ignition holds itseld in the on position, or if the back of the ignition with the wires senses its in the on position.

it either $12.99 for new ignition and keys,or $49.99 for the electrical part ,the ignition switch harness....
