Different Vehicle speed sensor (VSS)

I have a 91 accord ex sedan w/ auto tranny, with a motor swap supposedly from a honda prelude. It has the f22a1 motor in it.


Now, my VSS is out and has been since I got the car and I got a new one from the junkyard to replace it but was suprised to find a different style speed sensor in mine. The one that is in my car has a flat top and the wires come out from the base of it. There is no black part to it.

I took a VSS out of a 92 accord lx auto.




I couldnt really get the one off in my car but gave up anyway seeing as I knew they wasnt the same thing. Now there is a connector that goes to the wires coming from the vss in my car that will connect to the vss I got got the the jy.

Will the one I got the jy work if I put it in even though its different. Also, is there differences in the vss, between the various years of cb7 (90-93)? Lastly where and what did the vss in my car come from?

yeah this is what I have an issue with as well. I just completed a Auto to 5spd swap over the past week and it seems the JDM M2A4 trans I bought didn't have a lot of parts on it.

I assumed I could use the VSS from my JDM MPOA Auto but the gear on it doesn't work and the bracket is too short.

Do I need to get a Prelude Specific VSS? or can I just get a 5spd Accord one from the JY? Right now I think I'm using a B series 5spd one w/ the ear cutoff the bracket, it works....but intermittently....I need to junk that one asap for the right one.

Thanks, that link helped me alot. I tried searching for threads about the vss and such and came up with sqwat.
