    (Cali) smog help

    okay so i went to get smogged today and he only did it at idle and the HC was at 711!! and its only supposed to be at 120 so he just said get that fixed and come back he said it could be a vacuume leak?

    okay guys i took video of what its doing can somone help me out here i have changed the FPR , 02 sensor, cleaned the egr ports new plugs/wires/cap and rotor and drove it on the highway for a while so it was nice and hot. the only thing i didnt change is the cat. here it is at idle whatch the top left box it jumps way up.

      that video didnt help much but my dad is going through the exact same thing with his lexus.

      it would get up to 900 HC at idle but right when it is off idle, it drops significantly and on the dyno at 15mph and 25mph, it actually passes, lol.

      im leaning towards a vacuum leak or off cam timing but cam timing on a sohc would destroy the smog. my dad's lexus has 4 cams

      put a vacuum gauage on your manifold. should stay steady between 17-21 in-hg

        yeah see when he revs and holds it at 2500 rpm it will pass just when its sitting at idle it does this. ill try the vacuume leak thing again but i am almost positive its not that this is such a bitch i swear

          a low compression cylinder might cause high hc's

            It shouldn't matter. As long as u pass the first and second run. Then your fine.

            165 hp 149 ft. lb. torque sohc non vtec. then....
            184 whp and 149 ft. lb. torque f20b stock now......

              well today is a sad day for me, my CB is getting a non op until i can fix it or finish building my h22 and swap it in and get it to pass smog. but for now ill be driving my new 04 dodge ram that i bought

                OKAY GUYS FORGET EVERYTHING, IT PASSED TODAY MY CB IS REGISTERED AND EVERYTHING IS ALL GOOD IM SO HAPPY RIGHT NOW YOU DONT EVEN KNOW!!!!!!!!!! THANKS SO MUCH FOR THE HELP! and also it was a small vacuum leak im kicking my self for not seeing it!
