    Charging at 15 volts!!

i read in the Haynes manual that you should see you batt charging at 14 to 15 volts with the car crunk, mines charges at 13volts for some reason im getting ready to do the big 3 upgrade, but even with that i read that you only get 14 volts so im asking how is it that you can make it charge at 15 volts???

high 13's should be fine. whats your battery at? a full and low battery can differ as much as half a volt.

Its like over 14.7v or something is considered overcharging.

my meter only shows 13 or 14, no .1 .3 nothing like that, and the haynes manual says it should charge from 14 to 15 volts

14 is the usual for the alt. to charge. The battery is a 12v, the alt pushes out 14

you don't ever need 15. 13.7 is about normal for any car but any time you get more then that you can start having problems with the rest of the system considering the fact that its not set up for voltage that high. if you have 13 then go with it. it will work fine.

every alternator I've tested puts out 14v...my electronics manuals say the same

You don't really want 15v. Anytime you got more then 14.7 going to a battery it's bad news. anywhere above 12 and below 14.7 is good.

                          Edit:

You need a better meter if your's does not do decimals. Or you need to learn to use it if it does. there's a big difference between 13.1 and 14.9.

with all stock wiring 15 volts is to much. it will cause problems. when you start upgrading the system it will in turn handle more. The bigger the wires the more power they can safely provide. Check up on the voltage for the battery.
