Just did a r134 retrofit, a/c works well... but im getting a supercharger whine...

and im not going any faster, so whats gives?

im assuming its coming from the compressor since it hasnt been used for so long. will it go away, or is it in need of replacement soon?

upping to YT, video to come soon.

i tried to get a sound clip from under the hood, but the throttle rotor was very hot and im a pussy.

no idea, bought it this way. im just fixing problems as they come up.

i never had the whine before, and the belt was always on and spinning. it just started today after i added the r134 and the a/c actually worked. thats why i assume its something internal with the compressor, not a belt.

Well it works I wouldnt worry about it. I would check the belt first though.

Mine recently started making the same sound. Didn't do it last summer, but this summer it is. Kind of sounds like a supercharger/ same sound MT's make in reverse.

It still works, just kind of annoying.

There's a bearing in the compressor somewhere that might be bad/worn.

Guess I'll just deal with it until it seizes up, then yank one off my parts car.

sounds like a racing tranny w/ straight cut gears Your A/C blower seems to blow way faster than mine does for some reason, thats kinda odd, for my case.

Did you put any oil in when you did the retrofit?

I am not sure that oil will fix it, but it wont hurt.

If you do tear down your ac system agian, throw a little UV dye in there, and some ac system oil (cant remember the technical name for it) if you didn't put any in when you did the retrofit.

If you replace the compressor, make sure to put some oil in the system.

There is a reason why your ac was empty in the first place. The UV dye will help you find the leak.
