car got slower!!!!

ok so my car feels slow, ive just recently noticed this about a week ago. you give it gas it doesnt hesitate, but it dont go fast and when you step on it it downshifts but only revs up to 5500 then shifts into next gear. there is no engine light, or any else wrong with the car that i can see. what type of thing would this be? its an auto of coarse with a f22a1 with a6 head, intake mani, ecu.

Yea when I took my cat off my car did that shit. I shoved on a cam and it gets to 6k so fast it will bounce off the rev limiter before it gets to shift. Do a compression test and maybe a tune up. Run some sea foam through one of the vacuum lines. Find all things that can cause power loss.

exhast leak maybe? i noticed to that when i take off from lower speeds jes driving around i hear a rattling underneath the car somewhere then it goes away

Probably because its an auto and maybe the transmission is wearing out. And its old and its a sohc. Were you in a faster car and got used to that fast car then got back into yours then realized man this shits slow. Just my opinion the cars old and has its limitations its not your fault. It may be on its way out investigate it and good luck.

Probably because its an auto and maybe the transmission is wearing out. And its old and its a sohc. Were you in a faster car and got used to that fast car then got back into yours then realized man this shits slow. Just my opinion the cars old and has its limitations its not your fault. It may be on its way out investigate it and good luck.

^about what u asked, it sounds like u want ur car to redline?
i bet in neutral it will redline...
but
5500rpm for a 200k motor(auto) is ok, not the best but if its like my accord,
about 5500 (and thats rare, no need unless ur get'n on the freeway or sum'n)
it loses power and its our rings going out, imo
i know mine our going out, still runs good and pulls when i need, but similar problem to what ur sayin, mine isnt auto but doest matter,
i say get a compression leak down test and that will tell u A LOT!

same oil for about 8,000miles.....conventional 10-30 for here in az.
thats it. tranny oil is fine, no noises, but i have never changed the fluid for the for last 80,000 miles since ive had it. i know my grandpa changed it the first time before he gave it to me.

how's the tranny fluid look? oil change? spark plugs?
leaning towards tranny and tranny fluid REBUILD...or 5speed swap

ok so what it wuz was the oil was low because when i swapped the head i didnt replace those 4 rubber seals. so it leaks and oil burns. i was 2 quarts low!!! i know.......i havent had time to change the oil and keep up with the losses. well i did the oil change and everything is back to new!
