I want to go LSD but have a nonLSD trans...options?

I recently bought a 5spd JDM tranny, M2A4. But the thing is, it doesn't have an LSD, its just open diff. Are there any good aftermarket LSDs that have proven to be successful in these trannies?

Is OBX a good brand? you can't buy a Honda LSD, if there is such a thing can you?

I wouldn't go OBX. There are a few members that are actually running them on their CB7s and had success....but for the most part, you gotta do extra "maintenance" on them before you install them. You have to make sure some areas aren't warped, bolts are torqued down to spec, bolts are ok etc. I think there was a guy on Honda-Tech that actually sells his pre-made OBX maintenance package that replaces the OBX bolts etc. with strengthened ones to make it reliable.

But for the most part for the price @ 450-499, you can't really complain....it does the job but you gotta make sure the one that you are putting in is correctly installed and the unit itself is pre inspected.

If money isn't a issue, I would recommend a Quaife unit. It's plateless in design and doesn't require maintenance like Kaaz and Cusco LSD's. The plates in those can go out and require maintenance over time. The Quaife is just a drop in and go. These units range from 899-1000 depending on where you buy it from.

A new company on the market that is targetting Quaife is Mpower. This is the unit I will be buying within a couple of months when I'm closer to my turbo motor install. It's basically a Quaife LSD that costs only $650! There is a thread somewhere on Honda-tech that does a comparisson of the OBX,Quaife and Mpower. The Mpower quality wise surprisingly looks better than the Quaife on the outside and for the price and same performance it gives it's a sure winner.

There are OEM Honda LSDs but don't buy one if you see it new or used on e-bay. If you have a original open differential tranny, the Honda LSD will not fit the non-lsd transmission. From what I read the LSD cases are bigger than the non-lsd.

I have the Mfactory one and love the hell out of it. for the money i think its better quality than the quife and i personally having run both quife and mfactory i think i have better traction with the mfactory diff.

read a lot of reviews about MFactory over Quaiffe. for only a couple hundred more than a OBX unit and about 250 less than Quaiffe, you cant go wrong. everything ive read is that MFactory units are solid as hell. they are only 650 straight from MFactory, so im sure you can find them slightly less if a wholesaler/vendor got a hold of them. when it comes time to purchase my LSD its gonna be MFactory.

I am not sure the size thing is 100% correct, because I do believe there was someone on here not to long ago that got one all of the M2B4 stuff into a regular F22 case.
