Car turns off when driving. Ignition control module?

EDIT: The cause was the Ignitor / Ignition Control Module. I highly suggest everyone with the same symptoms to check the Main Relay, ignition switch, and lastly, the Ignitor/ICM. People DO NOT BUY NEW EBAY DISTRIBUTORS! spend a lil more in a auto parts store dizzy or even better a OEM Honda Distributor, and for the love of god keep the reciept.

Hello, im having a problem where my car automatically shuts off when im driving. It is almost as if someone just turns off the car while im driving. The RPMS drop to zero while im going 30-40 mph but the Speedo still works. Heres a breakdown

    - No sputtering
    - I resoldered the main relay
    - Only happenes when car is warmed up (after 10 mins of driving)
    - Battery ground wire and thermostat ground wire are grounded
    - After it dies, i try to crank it and it wont start. But after 1-2 minutes of waiting it starts again
    - New distributor (from ebay) last year

    Any ideas?

Clean and/or replace the electrical portion of the ignition switch

When the car dies, is it just the engine, or do the gauges stop working too?
If your speedo dies with the tach, I would suspect the ignition switch.
A bad alternator can wear a good battery and keep things from running right.
Was your distributor external coil and you only replaced the other parts? The ignitor chips act like that, sucks if it's bad after only a year since u got the dizzy.

          ignition switch.

I had this same problem on my first CB...back in 2006

          change it.

*take off the column cover...and you will see on the LEFT side of the colum..the switch is held on by 2 small copper screws...im thinking..maybe 8mm ....but make sure..you take off the battery cables FIRST.

the connector is attached to the fuse box in the driver side kick panel...unscrew the screws...detach from the fuse box...and then..feed it through the opening under the column. ***put steering wheel UP to give you clearance**

NOTE: whatever you do...DO NOT...take off the old ignition switch and replace with the new one with the battery cables still on the battery..you will BLOW the IGN. fuse. 50A fuse ..you will blow it if you dont take off the cables before replacing the ignition switch.

          good luck!

I highly doubt its dizzy related since it was replaced but im considering the possibility. Im more leniant towards the ignition switch idea. Unfortunately im going to basic training next tuesday and i am currently flat broke. Ill leave this problem to my brother/dad. Thanks for the help dudes.

Ok so i installed a new Ignitor/Ignition control module. The car doesnt die anymore but the tach needles jump like crazy and rough acceleration.

Anyone have a picture of a ignitor wired up correctly? I feel like i switched the switches.

              external coil

had this issue a couple of times but what got me last was the fuel injector resistor box.

other times, it turned out to be the ignitor or ignition coil however a bad ignitor never allowed me to fire the car again. once it died, it died for good.

alright guys. The ignitor/ICM was a tad bit loose causing the jumpy idle. Thanks for the help.
