    Head bolts won't come out...??

I have an F22a6 im having rebuilt. My mechanic is pulling down the motor before turning it over to the machinist, but five of the bolts won't come out.

He has tried heating/cooling them, but that isn't working. He and the machinist think it's a bad idea to drill/tap them, because we run the risk of ruining the threads in the block. If we don't get the head off, I end up with a new end table instead of a spare motor

Does anybody have any ideas on how to resolve this, or has anyone else run into a similar situation? Is it possible to ruin the threads in the block and then re-thread it and use bigger bolts?

It's discussed on this thread. Take a die grinder and take the bolt head(s) off & lift the head off the remaining studs. Then use force to remove headless bolts.

Are you using enough force. Use a LONG ASS breaker bar if you have to. 2ft long should do. Just make sure to have someone hold the point where your socket is above the bolt so that you dont strip it. Use push or pull force from swinging the breaker arm down instead of up, that way the socket will hold firmer on the bolt

a breaker bar will work better than an impact in this situation. ive torn down a lot of motors and some really good impacts just dont cut it.
