    temp gauge acting VERY strange

This morning I noticed my temp gauge needle bouncing up and down, but only over bumps. I'm thinking it might just be a loose connection, but I'm not sure where to look. Any ideas??

Under the distributor. It's a 1 wire plug. It's to the right of a gray plug.

make shure your car is not overheating, - can be caused by low coolant level,
      bad thermostat ou water pump.

        Its not overheating at all

I checked the Temperature sending unit (the sensor right next to the Coolant Temp Sensor under the dizzy) and the electrical connector onthe pin slid right off.

So i used vice grips to close the connector tight and put it back on the temp sending unit. This morning the gauge seemed to be working better, it wasn't jumping all over the place from bumps but i still don't know if its OK yet.

        Two questions:

        1. On a day like today (40 deg, raining, highway commute at a constant 70 mph) where should the temp gauge be??

        2. On a f22b dohc, does it have A) a coolant temp sensor, temp sending unit AND fan switch or B) just the coolant temp sensor and temp sending unit??

The reason I ask is cus I'm trying to figure out just how bad the situation is. If its just a matter of not having a gauge im not too worried, but if its worse then......

There is a sending unit, a coolant temp sensor, and 2 fan switches.

The sending unit is the 1 wire plug that sends the temp to the gauge. The gray plug next to it is the temp sensor that sends the temp to the ecu. The 2 green plugs on each of the water necks are fan switches.

I wouldn't worry about your gauge acting funny. Mine does that from time to time and it's only due to bad connection. Most people disconnect that wire if they're running an aftermarket gauge.

Put tape over the gauge cluster to cover the temp gage. Put a drawing on it so it's always in the middle

a little under the middle. sometimes when i put my heat on full blast and i drive around 80, the temp almost goes down to 1/4
