    H22 tuning? o2?

Haven't been around much, trying to finish up my EG. Engine bay is almost ready. Only need a few more coats of paint. For the H22 all Im waiting on is a water pump, timing belt, bisi or hondata intake mani gasket, and I have to do the manual timing belt tensioner.

The thing is I have the P13 along with a socketed P28 with the moates tuning hardware. I also have an AEM UEGO. the thing im no0t too sure of are.

1.Can I leave the wideband hooked up[ all the time or only when im on the dyno tuning? Added to that If I can have the wideband hooked up all the time, do I still need the stock o2 sensor?

2.Can I disable the EGR with the P28 or does the p28 not have EGR at all?

3.Iknow there is a thread on this already, but leaving the balancer shaft belt out. Will it really be ok? I know more vibrations, that I can handle.

Tahnks for all and any input...

    I would double check

I would double check because I am new to the entire tuning thing too, but.

I would use the wideband only for tuning. The stock ecu cannot run closed loop with 5v wideband.

I would also hook up your stock narrowband o2 when you are done because in closed loop it will help with idle and increase gas mileage.

You can disable the check for egr in almost any tuning program so you should be fine.

As for the balance shafts, I removed mine and have no complaints I will not tell you what to do here but I honestly believe from what I have read that it is just a creature comfort.

*** NOTE : If anyone smarter then me disagrees with what I said PLEASE speak up. I do NOT want to give bad advice ***

you can disable your stock o2 and just run a wideband

and yes you can do balance shaft deletes (or just belt deletes)
i know alot of people who do them without problems
      myself being one of them

        1. you can have the wideband hooked up all the time and have it either (a) send a wideband signal to your laptop or wideband gauge or (b) send a narrowband signal to the ECU if you want to enable closed loop.

you can also take out the wideband sensor after you do your tuning, and use the stock O2 sensor for closed loop operation. or just disable closed loop and drive with no oxygen sensor.

        2. you shouldn't have a problem disabling the EGR in Crome, or whatever you are using to tune. for example in Crome, you just go to Options, and check "disable EGR"

        3. it will not affect anything besides giving you a few extra horsepower

Good luck on the build, post some pics when you get it finished

What setup would be the best way to run the wideband then? In your honnest oppinion. I already have the wideband, and I dont really want to go buy a regular o2. So how could I go about doing that? Do I disable the o2 in crome, and then just run the wideband?

It wont hurt anything to run the wideband all the time? sorry for all the questions, really new to all the tuning.

And as soon as I get my camera back from my sister in law il be sure to take plenty of pics on the build.

Just hook up the wideband and disable O2 in crome(open loop), then tune the car.
Then wire your wideband so that it sends a narrowband signal to the ECU and enable O2 in crome. That way it will be always 14.7 AFR when you are cruising. This is what I would do.

Or, after you tune, you can just drive without the an O2 sensor (keep it disabled in crome)
I don't recommend driving without an O2 sensor because it isn't easy to tune your partial throttle so that the AFR is consistent at all times. But my opinion is only based on my experience, I know a lot of people just tune the partial throttle well and drive with no O2 sensor.
