car wont go past 2k rpm

Ok I've been driving my car all day and its been running fine. I got home and when I was going to leave again the car cranked for about 10 seconds (longer then usual) and then it started. I started to drive and she hesitated alot. I would push on the gas and it would stay close to 2300 rpm but nothing higher then that. I park the car and rev the engine and she revs fine. Try and drive it again and same thing happens. I turn off the car and turn it back on and starts up fine and runs fine like if nothing happened. What could've caused this? I don't want this to happen to me while I'm on the road, then ill be screwed. I have a 91 cb9 with a f22b1 engine.

    Thanks in advance

The first thing I would check is the fuel filter. Next would be the fuel pressure regulator and then I think I would check to see if my fuel pressure is good

    IT IS WHAT IT IS

        Why? the motor rev's fine.
I would look into tranny personally.

thats what i was thinking because as soon as i shifted from park it made a loud clunk .. but how can the tranny be related to the starting issue?

so far the cars been acting normal.. hope this doesnt happen again.
