ticking sound when accelerating

just as the title states. whenever i accelerate i hear this ticking noise. This ticking noise is heard at around 1900rpm-2000 i would say it ticks about 3-ticks per second, then at around 3000 rpm the ticking noise becomes like a clatter.

If my foot is not on the accelerator pedal then the ticking noise does not occur.

The weird thing is that in neutral and revving the motor, the ticking around 1900-2000rpm is not heard, but the clattering noise is still audible at 3000rpm.

Id say valve lash also, could be throwout bearing and axles?

i had a subtle exhaust leak that sounded a little like what your explaining. but it was whenever i was moving. i could rev like mad and nothing(although, i could have not heard it over the exhaust) but when i was moving and on it there it was.


Thought it had something to do with my switch to synthetic oil.

Then i went Dukes and made it worse. but i narrowed it down


but as for you, most likely valve clatter. Valve lash is a bitch.
