engine locked up?

today was a crazy day...i filled up my gas tank, started the car and drove off. less thn a mile down the road with my foot on the gas the car jus dies in the middle of the road

the car sounded lik it was gonna start bak but the engine jus made a weird noise like wen u try 2 crank a lawnmower and thn dies

anyhelp wud b gud...im thinkn tht the engine locked up for some reason, if so R.I.P. CB7

have you checked the timing? timing belt may have jumped a tooth.

i was driving pretty slow at the time but i no its not impossible, any other ideas?

Check for fuel and spark then get back to us.

could be timing belt snapped. does it crank really fast and the engnine have like no compression?

do check your oil; before driving

You can pop off the oil cap and turn the engine manually at the crank. You can pull the plugs out if you want. Watch for the cam to move. If it doesn't then there's your answer. If you get too much resistance or its doen't turn at all just stop. Stick a fork in it.

T belt happened to me in November crack the cover an take a look when u crank it check to c if the belt moves or u can pop the dizzy cap an look there of the tranny case

check your dizzy 1st. my car has done that. matter of fact the last 3 cb7's i had didnt that. even the '89. all because of the dizzy. check the ignition coil or the ignitor unit. either both or one could have gone bad.

Yep, check all the "free" stuff first before you start throwing parts at it.

-remove oil cap AND distributor cap and make sure the cam is spinning all they way across (this will rule out a broken cam or timing belt)
-check for spark
-check for fuel

thats what i thought too but thats what happened to my an mine jumped timing an bent the valves

well today i cranked it a little bit but it stil wont start, the cams move so tht is a gud sign, it is getting fuel....i guess il get a distributor and try it out

stil hav no clue 2 wut it wrong, when i try 2 crank it it jus keeps turning over and over
