Crank pulley removal, need some ideas

    Hey,
I need to remove the crank pulley (the engine is out of the car)

I used to bolt a flexplate to the crank and then use a big screwdriver to prevent the flexplate from moving. Then I unbolted the crankshalf pulley that way without any problems.

Now I can't find a flex plate and can't think of anything else I can do to prevent the crankshaft from moving. The flywheel only has small holes in it....so I could insert a screwdriver in there to prevent it from moving... but I think it will just bend because I would have to use a very skinny screwdriver.

    Any ideas?

find the fattest screwdriver you can fit in those holes. It works. I've done it plenty of times.

Or just invest in one of the best tools ever made for Hondas.

            u can make the tool

just get 2 nuts that will fit there (gas station fuel hose nuts)

weld them togheter to ur ball joint separator tool, make sure a 19mm socket can slide in the 2 nuts

i'm having a simliar problem too. i'm rying to chang out my tbelt and the crank bolt is on good. (check my post about me losing 8 quarts of oil)

i even tried to put the car in 5th and stand on the brake and the clutch is not holding

hayes says to stick the screwdriver in the flywheel but i'm iffy on that

impact wrench won't get it off too. so imight as well invest in that honda crank tool

Well the flywheel is not going to break from this
The screwdriver will bend before you do any damage to the flywheel
I am going to just do it this way, just gotta find a pretty strong screwdriver

If you cannot get the crank bolt to turn, I recommend getting a very BIG cheater bar, you can apply A LOT of force to it that way

The tool is worth the $30, even if you only use it once. Which I doubt.

try to source the tool for cheaper elsewhere. The tool is amazing.

                        ...adjust accordingly

i used a chain type pulley wrench

this is what i used, works great, but it does leave behind some teeth marks. wont really hurt the crank belt afterwards.

tried doing it the haynes manual way, hell no, didnt work out for shit.

air gun will probably break it loose too.
