Clutch pedal stays on the floor?

Okay maybe you guys might be able to help me out with this weird but someone wat sounds like a no brainer.. but let me hear wat you guys may think?

The new accord i am getting tomm the only prob the owner saids is wrong is the clutch.. he saids it still catches gears but wont for too long and needs to be changed. Now here is the weird part... the clutch pedal is dropped to the bottom of the floor board!!

So wat are some of the possible problems it can be? needs new Clutch master cylinder? Needs Fluid to give it pressure again? cut line somewhere?

Any Ideas or if anyone has had this problem and knows a solution or insight to it would be greatly appreciated! thanks in advance.

first off i'd check the fluid level and fill if up if nesscessary

then pull the clutch pedal up and try to pump it.

best bet i ahve is a bad master cylinder or a bad slave cylinder. both are very well known to fail on our cars.

i just did the slave cylinder and it was not that hard. but you will need to pull out the radiater fan to get to it and a buddy to you bleed it.

master cylinder is little harder since it is up under the dashboard and i had a hard time getting up there lol.

look at both spots and see if you can see some leaks. see any there your problem

Cotter Pin

If you are lucky the cotter pin broke/fell out and the pedal is just barely pushing on the master cylinder. This is a 10 cent fix.

Get under there and see if it adjusted correctly as well.

X2 on that... and def check the slave dude. if you know your way around a
hydro clutch you will find the problem with no problem.should be cake .. but screw whats wrong with it get it anyway's man

After you check the master and slave cylinders,

Another place to spot check -- part of the clutch line is a rubber hose which is right below the airbox and under the distributor area...see if there is a wet spot anywhere there (sign of leak) -- it's a small hose about 12inch.

Mine had a pin needle size hole in it and squirted out a little the fluid everytime i held the clutch. I kept filling in the reservoir for awhile...I only noticed it when I had someone else step on it while I looked in the engine bay.

also check all of the connections, just follow the line from the master to the slave.

Slave cylinder went bad on my buddies accord. Then mine. So I'd say it's common.

It's pretty easy to fix. A bitch to reach but not too bad. You don't HAVE to remove any radiator. I never did.

its only hard if you make it hard..its a basic fix dont over think it

yea -- it's common. If one part does go bad, the other might soon follow since the seals inside the master cylinder or slave cylinder can go bad from lack of lubrication if its losing fluid. I didn't remove my radiator fans either, but it was tight -- I just used a trick to hook two box wrenches together to extend it

thanx everyone for all ur answers! i will start off wit the cotter pin and check the fluids and see if i get any leaks! If it beyond that then i will either take parts off my other accord that is not running just sitting @ my friends shop.. dont know yet, but i deff want that accord on the road asap! thanks again everyone for ur speedy answers, i will keep ya updated as to wat it was

the really easy way to check for leaks it to check the reservoir level

check fluid level if that clear u need a new clutch buddy ur pressure plate is more than likelly screwed
