    JDM fogs no longer lighting

    Checked bulbs - good.

Checked grounds - secure and clean.

    Checked fuse - fine.

No wiring damage, didn't hit any animals, so my best guess is the relay took a dump.

I tried checking with my multimeter, but where the 2 wires hook up to the fuse terminals, I'm only getting power from one (with the ignition on, lights on). I've got a wire connected to post 1 and post 2 on the fuse block. I get no power from post 1, power from post 2 and 3. I cannot get any voltage from either the fuse or the relay connector.

Anybody have problems like this? They've been working fine since I got them a few months ago.

This is basically what the relay looks like, though the model numbers are different. 30amp / 12VDC 4 pole connector.

hey matt, try getting some dielectric grease and slather that stuff over the terminals/pins of the relay and plug. My power antenna relay was acting up about 2 days ago, when I popped the trunk the ant. would go down, but when I shut it back, it wouldn't come back up.

After I put that grease on there, it worked perfect again. Its $1.19 a pack at Autozone, kinda like those little brake caliper grease packets they sell, comes in a similar package.

my guess is there could be some slight corrosion on the surface of the terminals causing it to not make contact.

Still no luck. Took my dremel to the grounds reconnected, checked all lines no wire damage whatsoever. Neither fog lights up. Fuse is good, tried another, no go. It must not be getting power. I'll try to take the switch out and clean it, but it lights up when I push the button, so who knows. Next step is replacing the whole harness I guess!

do u hear the relay kicking over at all? maybe a blown fuse on the harness? oem or after market harness.

It's supposed to be an OEM harness, I bought it from a guy that had them on his JDM fogs. They've been working fine. The fuse has been replaced, ive even tried to bypass it. Bulb filaments appear to be intact, doubt both went out at once. I can't get any voltage from where they hook up to the posts on the fuse panel. I'm using a low voltage/amperage meter (for computers) so it may not register that high. I don't know. I've inspected all the wiring, no damage. I can't figure out what could be causing it. The switch lights up, I disassembled the switch, it was clean. All connectors are clean as well.

ok looking at this relay, #2 and #4 are your coil terminals so what that means is that one of those has to have 12v and the other has to have - ground.

most likely one will have 12v constant coming from a fused source and the other will be your ground signal coming from your fog light switch so all you have to do is get a test light and check to make sure you have power on one of those 2 then turn the fog switch on and make sure you are getting a ground signal from the switch on the other

if those are good then check terminals #1 and #3. one of those will be 12v constant from a fused source and the other is going to the fog lights so check to make sure you have 12v on one of those if you do then either the relay is bad or you have a break in the wire from the relay to the fogs.

all this is assuming that the fogs are grounded well as you stated

from what i read on your post is that your only getting one wire with 12v so that tells me that you most likely have a blown fuse or a broken wire from one of your power source wires to the relay

                      hope that helps you

Ok I checked my power lines, they're getting 12V from the switch to the panel. I checked the ground wire and it's intact (continuity good). Bleah.

I pulled the relay, ran a jumper wire from 2 to 4 and it works. I could hear the relay kicking on and off, but I guess the coil is f'd. Now comes the fun part - finding the correct relay!

Just get a 30A relay from radioshack and wire it in.
