            That may be what actually causes them to fail; bad solder joints. It seems like most of the time when they fail, it is when they get hot (at least before they fail completely), so perhaps it has to do with worn out/cracked solder joints.

                  im actually heat wrapping a stock f22a4 header because all the threads are screwed for my heatshield. so a heatshielf on top of the heatwrap for ultimate insulation?

                    i've had to replace an igniter before i heard they were placed in a real bad spot in the dizzy lol

                        no, just the two hard to reach, yet easily strippable phillips head screws are. You kinda have to get at them straight on otherwise cussing/anger/frustration occurs after you almost strip them.

                              Heat does seem to be an issue with ignitor failure. One source of heat that does damage them is heat caused by HT leads having an excessively high resistance.
