Hard into/out of park?

Its kinda wierd, its really hard to get my car out of park, and into park. Id have to say it's easier to get it into park when you're not in it than out of park. Anything i can do? I oiled the little linkage piece before the cable, do i need to adjust or grease the little metal piece with the notches on it to the left? Or is it just me needing new tranny fluid?

my bad, you need to adjust it at the cable. i think you need to loosen the cable.

i'm going to try oiling it some more tomorrow when i put it back together, i'll probably get a new cable when i redo the motor/tranny in the future.

i replaced a tranny and used the existing cable and that wasnt it. it was just out of adjustment.

ah, is there somewhere online i could get the procedure to adjust it? or does anyone have the factory service manual page for it? I have the pdf file of it, just no index.

page 9-88 in the factory manual, just found it. I'll be checking the adjustment tomorrow when i put the dash back together.

just a mild update, i adjusted the cable and now it's perfect, no real problems anymore. Thanks for the advice

Thats awesome if a mere adjustment could fix it, definitely try that first. But if you're like me it won't, and then you'll have to replace the cable

im having the same problem on my brothers prelude. f22 tranny but im using the accord shift linkage. im trying to get a prelude linkage. is there a problem with me using the accord linkage? im going to try to get the prelude linkage and go from there

alright i'll give a step by step on it, as best as i can since it's pretty simple.

1. remove the cover around the shifter
2. hit shift lock,(or thr brake) with your finger or key, and put the car into neutral
3. take a small flathead screwdriver or something and pull that little clip with the pin off of the shaft. You'll see the shaft that the shift cable hooks to, well just follow that until you see a clip, and pull it off. be careful not to lose it
4. Now take a 10mm wrench and back off the nut behind the adjuster to allow it to move
5. Look at the hole on the adjuster. Turn it a little bit in each direction and observe how the alignment of the hole changes. You want the holes to be as perfectly centered as possible, it's hard to do since its such a tiny hole, but just turn it in both directions and center it the best you can. It has holes 90 degrees from each other in the adjuster, just adjust it until it looks centered, and also the little pin should slide in without binding.
6. Pop the pin back on, tighten the locknut (you need two wrenches but i just used pliers for the adjuster side) and then put the car back in park.
7. Check to see if it goes into gears fine with the car off, start it and then shift while its on, let off the gas a little and make sure the gears are working properly. They should be, but i'd test it out before you threw it back together.
8. If it's good, awesome put it back together, if not shut it off and put it back in neutral and take the pin back out/loosen the nut. Observe if it moved or anything, and repeat the adjustment if it needs it.

If after all of that it still has problems than you might have an issue with the cable itself or the tranny, but that'd definately fix any adjustment problems you would have.
