or search recent threads under "timing belt" and "powercraft" and "50mm"

It wasnt the timing belt, it was the balancer but um im going to replace both just to be on the safe side but im have and problem lining the balancer pulleys up to tdc.....do they go the same way as the timing belt pulleys...a diagram or pic would be nice

so i don't get it--does your camshaft rotate when you turn the crankshaft or not?

the balancer belt breaking would not affect the camshaft or the distributor rotor. All the balancer shafts do is balance the vibrations of the engine. If the bal belt is broken, the engine will run rough, that's all. (except for the broken belt getting jammed in stuff and wrecking it that way).

        to answer your question though

the front balancer pulley has a mark on it that will line up due west with a mark on the engine cover.

the rear balancer pulley you line up by taking out the access bolt behind the rear balancer shaft and putting a 5 or 6mm bolt or a phillips head screwdriver into it and through a hole in the rear balancer shaft.. It only locks one way and it's set for how it's supposed to be when everything else is at TDC for the compression stroke on cyl 1.

it really is advisable to have a manual if you are doing this stuff though.

        good luck
