and also the left side of my valve cover seems moist with oil or something, kinda odd.

oil leaks from that area are usually from the distributor (which can leak from 2 places; between head and distributor housing or from the internal o-ring inside the distubutor, or both) and also the valve cover gasket or all three. later.

I had the same issue too after changing valve cover gasket and distributor o-ring the prob was fixed.
