Starter issue

ok i have not driven my car for couple months but when i went to start it, it did not want to start so i tried it a couple times more and it started but now the starter keeps cranking and the key is not in so i had to unplug the battery the minute i plug the battery in the stater keeps cranking by the way my car is manual if that helps thanks

sounds like the solenoid is stuck. you probably have to buy a new starter.

i would check all the grounds leading from the battery to the starter to make sure it didn't ground its self out. later.

yeah the solenoid one the starter seems bad. try clean the starter out

i just replaced the ignition switch i will check the ground cables if not im going to buy a new one thanks for the help guys

you can get the silonoid at the JY for free. its pocket size

on the starter. its the smallest of the 2 cylinders

well couldnt it be that the starter relay is stuck closed and doesnt open back up when the ignition is released? i think i remeber on the wiring diagram the ignition switch closes the starter relay and sends the signal...if that is stuck closed on the signal side it will keep the starter spinning....

its in the left hand side of the dash below the main relay..

well my mirrors had stopped working and i had checked my fuse and it was burned and its located in the left hand side below .. how do i check if its good or not

well i would say the easiest way to narrow it down is to unplug the signal side at the starter(thats the small wire but i am sure u know that)and then hook the battery back up....if it still spins all the time its the starter...if not then u know it has to do with the signal...but it is more than likely that the starter is shorted inside...hope this helps
