so my cat got cooked...

i bought a Catco direct-fit cat about 4 months ago, maybe even less. and now it's cooked. the internals are no where to be found, so it's pretty much a test pipe as it stands now.

i know having a misfire long enough will cook a cat, but i'm not missing. any other reasons why a cat can just blow out like that?

i started to notice the louder sound when/after my cb died on the highway due to a bad ignitor/coil. once i replaced the distributor, the exhaust note was noticeably louder. i put the car on a lift and banged around the cat and it sounded hollow as shit, so i took it off and boom, nothing inside at all.

But, surely there is a warranty that will cover it.

get the steel wool works great( the ss kitchen clean thing)
how much you paid for Catco if you don't mind

i also have the catco direct fit but i only paid 90 bucks for it from Partswarehouse.com . so far i haven't had any trouble with it.

which cats have the steel wool in it... this Catco said it had steel internals as well as a steel outer shell. i paid about $110 shipped

here little how to HTH you. Take wiper blade stainless steel apart bend U, insert in the cat to hold the steel wool in place.

i think i can live with the way it is until it's fixed.. that just seems too ghetto for me to take it all apart again
