The factory manual mentions a tool for removing these bars. Hell my bars do not even work. My trunk slams down hard if I let it go.

To the original topic I had the same problem with speakers hitting the DS portion of the bar. I took my dremel and cut off the smallest amount to fit the speaker. Had zero problems. This was well over 2yrs ago and the trunk still springs open.

You can run a spacer but it still may not clear. I suggest the only solution would be to redrill holes closer to the front of the car away from the bars. I had mine takin out just like you guys. I truly regret it. It was a beezy opening and closing the trunk. And putting it back is a PAIN in the ass. I cannot express that enough.

                  DO NOT CUT THEM!
