it has an expansion chamber type thingy, its bullshit. i know theres dyno charts but the shits to damn expensive. and it also uses its "aem filter". check it out at www.aempower.com if your dumb enough to waste that much money on a "high performance tube" than so be it.

wats so special about being "carb legal"? alright...so would there be a big difference between using a metal tube like you get with a cai than using the plastic one that came with the car? and if a metal one is such a big difference...how come someone couldnt just go buy a piece of metal tubing from a hardware store and make their own intake?

They have metal tubes with the same bend that big at the hardware store? No they dont . So unless you have a tubing bender that can accept that size pipe then your out of luck. Carb legal is no big deal they are the same exepct one company paid for testing one didnt. It depends if you live in a state where testing is needed.

when i popped my hood today and looked at the stock intake i noticed that it gets air from the wheel well...wouldnt this be colder air then the air that is already in the engine? i dont understand why installing a tube that gets air from the engine would improve the cars performance...how is this air that the cai is getting cooler than the air the stock intake gets?

well there is a difference and it doesnot matter how fast the air is moving, if the filter is outside the engine bay it is sucking up cooler air (a lot cooler) and cooloer air is a shit load better for the engine, a short ram is sucking in hot engine heat, and a cai is better than a stock intake because its a cooler, smoother air flow,no resonators, etc. a cai is a lot better than a stock airbox period, theres dynos to prove it i will ry and find one, and it depends on performance you want if you want top end than go cai if you want better throttle response and lower end power go short ram, thats all i have to say take it or leave it.
