Extremely Loud and High Pitched Squeal

I just got done changing my intake manifold gasket (thanks CB7tuner.com) and now I went out and drove around and after 5 minutes, an extremely loud squeal is coming out of the engine bay ever since.
It goes away when I accelerate while in gear, but then the minute I lift off the accelerator it comes back. I assume it is a vacuum leak, but I have no idea how to determine what it could be. It is loud enough that it hurts your ears, and can not tell directly where it comes from. Thanks for any help!

Sounds more like a belt squeling. If it is a vaccum leak then you idle will be higher like 1500 or so.

adjust tension on either the PS belt or the Alt. belt.

without a doubt a belt. Check the deflection on both accessory belts. You may also try, if the deflection/tension is right, to look to see if all pulleys are turning while squealing... It may indicate a bad bearing/component.

For example, mine squeals when its below 50 out, but its due to a bad a/c compressor pulley bearing... but since the car's going to the ex, I have no inclination to do any repairs.

          I don't think so...

Thanks for your help guys, but it's not a belt, I don't think. A couple things: when I rev the engine with the clutch in (Not under load) the sounds stays exactly the same, but when I rev under load it goes away... and then this morning, I came out and started the car cold, and the sound was not present until the car warmed up. Also, the pitch is a whistle, an extremely high pitched whistle. Not really the sound of a belt, when I usually think of it.
Still think it is a belt?

Vacuum leaks definitely sound like they are whistling. Can you tell where it's coming from? It should be easy if the whistle is as loud as you say. It took me like 2 min. to find mine.

If its a vaccum leak shouldn't your idle be higher than normal.

Not necessarily, when I had a vacuum leak it BARELY idled higher. Like maybe 1k instead of 700.

The thing is, I think the leak is so small that the idle isn't higher...
And it is so loud, it is giving my ears a ringing sound, it is so loud that you listen by the belts, by the intake, listen all around, it all sounds like a piercing high pitched whistle everywhere. I guess I have to start replacing vacuum hoses and gaskets until it goes away. This sucks and is super annoying.

I've had the same problem twice...thought it was the T/B tensioner...but turned out to be the IM gasket, it had somehow blown out a chunk of the gasket under the manifold on cyl #1...I used some Hondabond to seal it up...that was about 6 months ago... started up again last week...this time it was cyl #2....

I used a Fel-Pro gasket...don't know why it did that, but I'm using nothing but Honda gaskets from now on.

BTW- My idle never really changed even though it was leaking. Try spraying brake cleaner roungd the IM, if your idle jumps up, you've found your leak.

I've had this as well, I just put a wrench on all the bolts and snugged them down a little bit and it went away.

                      Worth a try at least
