Sould I buy new valves? **vid**

I have a lot of engine noise. It seems to be getting worse, and it's very loud. Any ideas on exactly what the sound is?

I would say either a rod nkocking or piston slap. Sounds bad though I wouldn't drive it any more. You could throw a rod threw the block or destroy send a piston into the head. Time for a rebuild.

Sounds like one of your rods doesn't want to live inside your motor anymore...

Well, is it valve tap or rod knock, or can you tell by the sound? Because I have heard that a failing auto-tensioner can cause valve tap.

A failing auto tensioner will cause belt slap. Mine just went out last week. Yours sounds much worse.

**Additional info**

I did an oil change a couple days ago, the oil was pitch black (after almost 4k miles) but I did not see any metal or anything.

Hmm, doesn't sound good at all as you already know. Its time for a new heart. Me personally I wouldn't try to rebuild it. Hmotors has long blocks going for a decent price right now. Btw, where did you get that motor?

This is from Hmotors. I've been driving it for almost 4k miles, and probably drove about 1k miles without an exhaust. As in nothing after the downpipe.

the lack of backpressure could have burnt up your valve seals.

tear it apart and find out. NO one can tell you what is wrong with that motor just by hearing it....

Yup, got the engine from Hmotors, swapped it in, then drove it for 4k.

That would be awesome if it was only the valve seals.. hopefully I'm that lucky.

Just an update, it was the power steering pump. The bearings inside it were fvcked. That's probably why my car was running slower than it should too haha... runs much better now though, and I can tell it's a little faster.
