    Stupid Mechanic Shops...grrr

So I took my car into a shop down the street from my work this morning to get a trailer hitch put on for my new purchase ( a jetski) and I get a call at like 9 AM and he says he cant do it because of my aftermarket muffler. He said the only way to make it work is to put a stock muffler on. So I hang up with the guy and drive down there (borrowed a car from a friend at work) and I get down there and he tells me he has to put a stock one on for clearance issues and the muffler that is on there is stainless so he cant move it because he cant weld that. I look at him with a blank stare because he must be a retard. I tell him, " Well I didnt have any trouble last week when I put it on....and I used a Mig welder, Im sure you got one of those...lol". So anyway, long story short he is moving the muffler back 4" to clear the hitch and then im gonna have to get a new tip and put that on myself. What an idiot, he just wanted to squeeze some extra cash outta me for a new muffler.

If he modified the hitch then the warranty is void...and it would have cost more in labor

So he's an idiot for not wanting to void the warranty on your hitch?

Well, obviously, if he thought he couldn't weld stainless steel, it makes sense that he would think you need a stock muffler to fit the hitch, as he can weld that.

Are you an idiot because you didn't know that you need to advance your cam 1.1* when you mill your cylinder head .020 to keep proper valve timing?

He is a mechanic at a muffler shop...he should know that he can weld that muffler...you can look at it and see that I welded it just fine...anyway he just called and it all worked out with the tip. All he had to do is move the muffler back a few inches. $440 later
