I've done that a few times and get a very similar result. If your timing belt was off it'd probably not even try to start or you've got 16 messed up valves now if you put it on 180 degrees off. 2 teeth on the belt will still let the car run, just run like crap.

This is a teggie, but it's the same disty cap...

On our cars I believe 3 is the top position and 1 is closest to the firewall. I could be very wrong as I'm going off memory.

As for testing for spark, DO NOT hold the plug with plyers. Remove the plug and while it's still plugged into the spark plug wire, place it against the valve cover or block somewhere. Have someone crank the motor. Watch for a spark between the plug and the metal object or across the plug gap.
        This is 100% incorrect.

The coil inlet is at the front of the car, and 1 is directly below that. 2 is at the front of the car, on top of the coil inlet, and 3 is straight down toward the tranny. 4 is closest to the firewall.

So it is. I was trying to go from memory mixed with that picture taken from RyWire (you'd think a company specializing in honda wiring harnesses would have a simple firing order right). I just had a chance to look in the helms for a second. School owns.

lol mines did that before. it was cuz I had the dizzy 180 out of wack. & yeah your dizzy can be one 180 out of wack.

            heres how to fix it...

1st= rotate you crank till the #1 piston is at TDC. you can do this by rotating the flywheel till the "+" lines up with the pointer in that little window by where it says F22Ax. then take out the #1 sparkplug & see with your eyes if it really is at TDC. now confirm this by making sure that the pointer on the cam sprocket is pointing up, & the 2 lines on either side is even with the top of the head.

2nd= now with out rotating anything else, take off your dizzy cap. the pointer on the dizzy rotor should be pointing at the # sparkplug wire. if not its 180 out of wack. to fix it take out the whole dizzy. rotate the dizzy rotor till it points at the #1 spark plug area. the put it back carefully as to not rotate it & mess it up again.

after doing this your car will have correct timing & should start like mines did

okay well it turns out I was 3 teeth off on the Cam gear, I guess when I tried to tension the timing belt, i moved it and the tensioner slipped and that's why it didn't start.

But I pretty much had to take all the belts off, Timing, balance shafts, Alt. and PS belts, so this is turning into a nightmare for me. I just spoke w/ HondaFan81 for 3 hours, so that calmed me down a bit, he talked me through basically doing a timing belt in excrusiating detail LOL. But i'll have the final verdict tomorrow when Owequitit comes and looks it over and adjusts things if needed. IT WILL RUN EVENTALLY! I swear! i'm not giving up! and am thankful for all the help from this community of tuners! I can't get this kinda help ANYWHERE else, so its very much appreciated.

No problem Kai. Yea, he's got the timing belt on properly, so it appears per phone conversation and tension set. He has no front balance shaft seal retainer, I suggested leaving balance shaft belt off and he agreed. So basically he's ready to install the lower timing cover, wrap up this job, install plugs, double check his firing order at dizzy cap & cylinders (which seemed fine at a brief phone convo before the long talk) and start it up. I hope to hear it run, seems like it should as IMO that video it almost wanted to, but you could hear air rushing past valves. I cross my fingers no bent valves occurred with whatever previous work was done, we'll see how it runs.

owequitit is going over to check if Kai followed my instructions properly, which it seems so based on our phone conversation, but better to have someone physically take a look then it be wrong. So I hope to hear good news of your car running later tonight or tomorrow.

Got word from Scott this motor is running. They ran into a couple of problems, one injector I said had good internal resistance but did not operate. They used an original, works fine. Also, coolant leak from the U-shaped hose from Tstat housing to intake manifold, replaced that and are wrapping things up. Kai learned a few things and Scott did verify he set the timing belt correctly and tension as well, so all worked out well! Good to hear another motor revived.

I just wanted to say how surprised I was with all the help that Kai received from several people on the forum. Its not often to see this kind of help and I am genuinely impressed by those all who did make themselves available.

Here's the sweetest satisfaction I have seen in a long time! lol:

I've just gotta fix the fans that stay on after the car is turned off, I'm getting a new cooling fan sensor from the JY tomorrow as well as the plug for the temp sensor for the dash....that skinny tube like sensor that plugs into the cyl. head since that wire got frayed when I removed it.

if your fans stay on when you shut the car off it sounds like you got the sensors mixex up on the head and neck where the radiator hose connects. thats what happened to mine.double check that
