major front rotor removal help needed.

Ok so I'm in the process of using this method of removal.

    http://hondalover11279.tripod.com/rotorremoval.html

first probelm but not sure if its 100% necessary for removal is for the life of me I can not remove the lower ball joint.

Second probelm and the biggest.. When going to remove the 4 bolts that hold the hub to knuckle (FIG.3 from the link) my bolts arnt bolts but torx bolts.. I can't find torx sockets is this a dealer part? a normal 10mm socket is to big and 9mm to small.

    anyone have any tips.

    Thanks

for the ball joint, get a ball joint separator. cuz messing up your ball joint can make your suspension come appart on the highway

Get a big hammer and smack the lower control arm, There will be a spot where you have to hit. Hit it a couple times and the ball joint will pop out.

And the 4 bolts are 12pt 10mm bolts not the usuall 6pt.

hey big thanks guys.. damn 12 point sockets I never knew anything actually used those never have had to deal with one.

in that video is all he doing is jacking up the lower controll arm then lowering it then giving it a good whack?

I would HIGHLY recommend a good strong impact gun for those 4 14mm 6pt bolts in front and the 12pt star bolts in back, otherwise you'll strip them.

And if you strip the rear 12pts, then the only option you have is OEM honda, any regular hex head will hit the axle. SO don't mess those up in back, trust me I tried Ace Hardware/Home Depot when I did my brakes, and no luck, I had to buy a Honda bolt they're like 4 bucks a bolt and i needed two of them

no if you look closely, he stuck a ratchet on one side of it. The ratchet doesnt fit when it's down, but when you jack it up there's enough of a gap to make the ratchet fit. Then, when you let it down, the ratchet gives some extra leverage on it, so that when you kick down the rotor it pops off.

sometimes what i would do is jack up the bottom of the rotor as high as i can go and then smack the lower control arm on the side with a hammer. Pops off everytime i had to do that.
