Slight blip in engine power

You know when you're about to run out of gas, how your car will tell you about a mile before it actually happens by losing a little bit of power for an eighth of a second... and then gradually those little losses of power get longer and more frequent until... you really run out of gas, and you're walking to the nearest gas station?

For the last two months or so... my cb7 has been acting like it's about to run out of gas... but the blip is so slight it's hardly noticeable... and it doesn't matter how much gas is in the tank... half, almost empty, or full.

It started about once every 30 miles or so... then slowly increased in frequency until it was about once every 5 miles or so... now it seems like the frequency has decreased again...

Fuel filter? Fuel pump? Something else?

I only notice it when I'm in fifth gear at a steady speed (65-75), not in cruise control... although having my foot on the pedal may be part of what helps me keep in touch with the car's vibes, so maybe it's happening in cruise, also.

that almost sounds like a misfire. plugs maybe?

misfire?

Hadn't really thought of that, I've never had one of my cars start misfiring, although I think I remember way back when I was a kid our V-8 350 Olds Cutlass ('67) started misfiring. The Cutlass misfiring was way more noticeable than what's happening with my Honda... not sure if that's a good reference, though, given my CB7 is 26 years newer.

yeah check all the wiring. make sure that everything is connected right. then go from there
