Car Dies At Idle

The Car
Ok so I am probably getting a 1994 civic EX 5 speed. car has 230,000 miles on it. motor is said to have around 153,000 mile on it. and it is a D16Z6 single cam VTEC.
The Issue
I looked at it today and started it up. starts great, idles good for about 30-45 seconds, then just straight dies. start again dies after a few seconds.
My question
My question is what could be causing this issue? Maybe clogged Idle Air Control Valve? or maybe a fueling issue?

Any ideas or possibilities? I am being told by some friends that it may be ignition due to the quickness of it shutting off. Does that sound right?

is it out of gas?

No, it was kinda low. had about 1/4 tank in it. Would the ignition system be teh cause? He put in a new cap and rotor. Maybe something loose or not in right?

How bout the timing belt?

maybe once it gets a little used it stretches, cuz of the severe wear?

And gas does go bad after time, so you might wanna try adding in some fresh gas

Yeah true that. I never really thought of bad gas. I may have to look into that. The car sat for 2 months. That long enough for the gas to go bad?

Yeah definitely. The guy supposed to fix the car before I buy it. lol. So I will tell him to try that. If not the gas, any other sufggestions?

really? I tell him to check onto the vaccum lines then. Would a bad fuel pump cause this either?
