Pretty damn sure I have an H trans. I raced a 97 lude, and we were shifting about the same exact times. Plus, look at the pic:

kinda fuzzy, but you get the idea.

im not sure where to go to get my compression checked.. and i don't have a timing light.

ok... that pic doesn't show the code for the tranny... need to look to the left of the engine code and look on the tranny and its a little white strip.

5th synchroe is out on my DD so I have to double clutch to shift

Any mechanic can check your compression or you can buy a compression gauge and check it yourself with the help of a friend

The picture is the code on your engine block. You may have an F22 transmission on it.

Here's another way to test... when you shift at 7200rpm or so, where do you start in the next gear? Over 5000? If so, you may have the H22 trans. If not... F22 trans.

A compression tester and timing light will cost you about $60 total at Sears... maybe less. Definitely less if you go on ebay. Buy the tools, and you'll always have them for the future... or to rent to your friends to recover the cost.

"I don't have a dyno" is a fine excuse for not doing some work. "I don't have a $20 tool" is idiotic. Buy the tool, or deal with what you have.

or you can just ask him what his 5th gear cruising RPM is about at 80mph and look on the transaxle info that is stickied. 1-2 and seeing rpm is too much work.

If you have an H22, you'll know if you shift out of vtec... Of course, that may be assuming too much. I mean, I knew what transmission I put in my car as well...

my bad about engine code. Tranny code is m2a4. I'd assume it's an H trans, I got it from HMotorsOnline, so I'd be pretty pissed if it wasn't. Plus I don't shift out of vtec. And if I do, it's only for like 100rpms then back in. S

o my friend is gonna help me compression test and check the timing, they already have the tools. Update soon.

Oh forgot to mention that my suspension has been taken apart and put back together, it's not aligned. How much would that hurt?

Depends on how out of whack it is. m2a4 is the jdm h22 trans so its either engine not up to par or you need to work on your driving.

Not really...H22A's peak out around 7000 ish before they start losing steam...People shift higher so the next year can catch "in vtec" so you are still in the powerband.

Another thing to keep in mind is if your car is heavy as hell thats another issue with quarter times. If you have a big boomin system in your trunk thats an issue.

I don't have anything in my trunk, but I don't see why a sub would matter.. sub + amp weighs probably like 10 or 15 pounds. It seems to me that how full the gas tank was would matter more than that.

Sub and amp weigh a LOT MORE than 10-15lbs. My single 12 and amp probably weigh 50 or more. Since you do have an H trans, I dont know what to tell you except that your engine doesnt seem healthy. Ill say that before I tell you your driving is terrible. Ill say THAT after you come back saying everything is in spec
