    H22 slow.

Hey so I put a H22a in my accord a few months ago. Everyone else I know who has an H22 (and everyone else I have asked online) has been able to run high 14's in the quarter mile. I went out to the track, had a few bad runs and a few good ones, and the fastest I got it to go was 15.8. I got it to go 15.8 shifting at 7100 and 7300, but couldn't get it to go any faster. I'm kind of wondering if something could be wrong with it. It runs well, usually idles around 700rpm, except when I give it gas and then completely let off (and push the clutch in) it goes down to around 200rpm, bounces back and forth like 2 times, then levels off at 700rpm again.

I have already replaced: plugs (ngk iridiums), wires (ngk), and I have a CAI

note that i still have the stock accord exhaust, but i took the exhaust off for the track, and just ran it from the downpipe.

Any suggestions on what I should check or replace?

How are you launching? Any time slips so we can see your 60' times?

I'll get a time slip up in a few hours.. I was revving to 2500 and then going, and on the 15.8 runs I had a .1xx reaction time. I didn't spin the tires a crazy amount, but it did a little.

There could be a lot of factors. The other people with h22's might have better tires, the track might be different, there are so many factors involved and if your car is running fine, then you have nothing to worry about. Just because you run a little slower at the track it doesn't mean that there is anything wrong with the engine

Are you running the trans that came with the motor or are you running your stock Accord trans?

I have the H trans. Plus I do have the stock suspension (that is starting to go out, my car leans slightly towards the driver's side) and crappy michelin tires. Could that be it?

Oh forgot to mention that I have ESP mounts. So there's basically no engine movement going on. Could that make me run slower with crappy tires and suspension? Like I couldn't get enough traction with the crappy tires?

I would say launch around 3k rpm or 3.5k rpm. Get some good tires and set them at 22 psi. Learn how to feather out the clutch, just practice a lot. I would recommend for you to replace your suspension which will help keep the power to the ground.

Well, I only launch at a lower rpm because I don't have to feather it out as much. If I launch above 3k, all I do is spin the tires.

Post your timeslips....We can tell you more that way. Just guessing and saying you ran 15.8 is not telling us much. I ran 15.7 with my F trans on an h22a with shitty tune, POS clutch.

Sounds like it has a few issues, but racing is not just putting your foot on the floor.
I would bet your motor is not in spec. as far as tune.
Dozens of small things get the fast times.
When you took off the exhaust you changed the tune.
Timing tweeks will make a difference.
                          Tire pressure is important.
Shifting to stay in the best torque range is critical.
And way more than I will get into, but somethings to think about.
                          Details is where it happens.
If you don't go there you wont get there.
Take that freek show to the park, maybe the squirrels will care.

Why'd you highlight the thing about my idle when you quoted me..

Not sure about if any timing is off, maybe ignition timing is?
Tire pressure was at 25 psi
I was shifting the lowest I could that it would still keep it in vtec.
